BOPO Week 12 Preview: Playoff Pressure Is ON!
We are getting down to the business end of the BOPO season! With five automatic playoff spots available in each division, every point matters. Some teams are trying to protect their positions, some are fighting to break into the top five, and a few are hoping to make a late-season run toward the wild card.
There are some monster matchups this week, including a showdown between two of the Bass Division's heavyweights, a battle between two of the Mid Division's top three, and a Treble Division matchup that could have a major impact on the playoff picture.

5:30 Matchups
Humboldt's Big Adventure vs. Bass Pro Shots
Prediction: Bass Pro Shots 10–5
Both teams are looking to finish the season on a positive note, but Bass Pro Shots enters with the better record and a much better chance of making a late push. Humboldt has struggled to find consistency, and Bass Pro needs to take advantage of this opportunity.
Playoff impact: Bass Pro is currently eighth in the Bass Division, so the top-five automatic spots are a long shot. A win is important if they want to keep any outside playoff hopes alive. Humboldt needs a win to avoid finishing at the bottom of the division.
McStriker & the Bad Decisions vs. Karl & the Gang
Prediction: McStriker 12–3
McStriker has put together a solid season and is sitting second in the Treble Division. Karl & the Gang have had a difficult year, and this is a matchup McStriker needs to win. Expect McStriker to take care of business.
Playoff impact: McStriker is in excellent position to qualify automatically, but a win would help protect that second-place position. Karl needs a strong finish to have any realistic shot at getting into the playoff conversation.
Three Eyed Moose vs. Gutter Dusters
Prediction: Three Eyed Moose 8–7
Now THIS is a matchup! Three Eyed Moose is coming off a monster Week 11, including an 823 team game and a 15–0 sweep of Turn & Burn. Gutter Dusters have been one of the most consistent teams in the league all season. Both teams are 8–2, and this could easily go either way.
I'm giving the slight edge to Three Eyed Moose, but don't be surprised if this one comes down to the final game.
Playoff impact: Huge. Both teams are comfortably inside the top five, but this is a battle for division positioning and potentially the division title. The winner gets a major advantage heading into the final stretch.
Mama's Return Voyage vs. Return of the Blankets
Prediction: Mama's Return Voyage 10–5
Mama's Return Voyage has been one of the best teams in the Bass Division all season and currently sits tied for first with an 8–2 record. Return of the Blankets is in the fifth-place playoff position, but they cannot afford to give away points against the division's top teams.
Mama's has the edge, but Return of the Blankets has shown it can compete with anybody.
Playoff impact: Mama's is fighting for the division's top spot. Return of the Blankets is currently holding an automatic playoff position, but the teams behind them are close enough that every point matters. This is a big opportunity for Return to make a statement.
Fish Bowl vs. Turn & Burn
Prediction: Fish Bowl 9–6
Fish Bowl is currently sitting in fourth place in the Mid Division with a 5–5 record. Turn & Burn is 4–6 and needs to start collecting points. Fish Bowl has the better record, and I'll take them in a close one.
Playoff impact: Fish Bowl is currently in the top five, but the division is crowded behind the leaders. A win would strengthen its hold on that fourth-place position. Turn & Burn needs to start climbing if it wants to make a run at an automatic spot.
Magic's Gathering vs. Heavy Rotation
Prediction: Heavy Rotation 8–7
This one feels like a toss-up. Heavy Rotation has the slightly better record at 4–6, while Magic's Gathering sits at 3–7. Both teams need a strong finish, and I expect this one to be close.
Playoff impact: Neither team is currently in the top five. Heavy Rotation has a better starting position, but both teams need points and some help from the teams above them. This is a must-win type of matchup if either team wants to make a late run.
Golden Nugget vs. Pinnin' Ain't Easy
Prediction: Golden Nugget 8–7
Another huge matchup! Golden Nugget is second in the Mid Division at 7–3, while Pinnin' Ain't Easy is third at 6–4. Golden Nugget has been led by Buck Ripcord, who continues to sit at the top of the league's season average list at 225.5.
Pinnin' has been solid all season, though, and this could be one of the closest matches of the night. I'll take Golden Nugget by a point.
Playoff impact: Both teams are currently in automatic playoff positions. Golden Nugget is trying to keep pressure on undefeated Hungry Like the Wolf, while Pinnin' is trying to close the gap on the top two. A Pinnin' win would make the division race even more interesting.
Doc's Picks vs. WAP
Prediction: Doc's Picks 8–7
This could be one of the most important matches in the Treble Division. Doc's Picks and WAP are both 6–4, and both are currently inside the top five. Doc's has a slight advantage in points earned, but WAP has shown it can hang with the best.
I'm going with Doc's in a nail-biter.
Playoff impact: Massive. Both teams are in the playoff picture, but neither can afford to lose ground with several teams clustered around the same record. This is a direct battle between two teams trying to secure their automatic bids.
8:15 Matchups
Pinception vs. Disco Turkeys
Prediction: Pinception 12–3
Pinception is currently fourth in the Treble Division at 6–4 and needs to keep collecting points. Disco Turkeys have struggled this season, sitting at 1–9. Pinception should have the advantage here, but they need to avoid looking past their opponent.
Playoff impact: Pinception is in the top five, but the division is extremely tight. A strong win could help them create some breathing room. Disco needs a big finish and probably some help to get into the playoff picture.
Slay & Co. vs. Swayze's Throat Rippers
Prediction: Swayze's 12–3
Swayze's is currently fifth in the Bass Division at 6–4, while Slay & Co. has had a rough season at 1–9. Swayze's knows what's at stake and should be motivated to take care of business.
Playoff impact: Swayze's is sitting in the final automatic playoff position in the division. A win would help protect that spot, but they have Kobra Ky and NBO close behind. Slay needs points to keep its outside hopes alive.
Vintage Rebels vs. Hungry Like the Wolf
Prediction: Hungry Like the Wolf 11–4
Hungry Like the Wolf is still undefeated at 10–0 and has been the team to beat in the Mid Division. Vintage Rebels are 4–6 and need to find a way to slow down the league's hottest team.
Can anybody stop Hungry? I'm not betting on it this week.
Playoff impact: Hungry is trying to protect its undefeated record and first-place position. Vintage is currently outside the top five and needs a major upset to get its playoff hopes moving in the right direction. This is a huge opportunity for Vintage to shake up the division.
Fineapples vs. Bobcat & the Bandits
Prediction: Fineapples 9–6
Fineapples enters at 3–7, while Bobcat & the Bandits are 2–8. Neither team is where it wants to be, but there are still points available and plenty of pride on the line. Fineapples gets the nod in a close one.
Playoff impact: Both teams are currently outside the automatic playoff positions. Fineapples needs to make up ground quickly, while Bobcat needs a strong finish to have any chance of climbing the standings.
NBO vs. Kobra Ky
Prediction: Kobra Ky 8–7
Here's another important Bass Division matchup. Both teams are 5–5, and Kobra Ky currently has the edge in points earned. NBO has been competitive all season, so I expect this one to be tight.
I'll take Kobra Ky by one point.
Playoff impact: This is a direct battle between two teams chasing the top five. Kobra is currently sixth and NBO seventh, so the winner could take a big step toward catching Swayze's and Return of the Blankets. A loss would make the road tougher.
Da Strike vs. Brazilian Beaver Brigade
Prediction: Da Strike 9–6
Da Strike is currently third in the Treble Division at 6–4, while Brazilian Beaver Brigade sits seventh at 5–5. Da Strike has been putting up some strong team numbers and needs to keep that momentum going. The Beaver Brigade is close enough to make things interesting, though.
Playoff impact: Da Strike is trying to strengthen its position near the top of the division. Brazilian Beaver Brigade is just outside the top five and needs a win to put pressure on the teams ahead. This is a big opportunity for the Beaver Brigade to make a move.
Bowlogna vs. Cha Cha Slide in my DMs
Prediction: Bowlogna 12–3
Bowlogna has been one of the best teams in the league this season, sitting at 9–1 and leading the Treble Division. Cha Cha Slide is 4–6 and needs a strong finish. Bowlogna has the advantage on paper and should be favored.
Playoff impact: Bowlogna is in great shape to qualify automatically and is fighting to maintain its division lead. Cha Cha Slide is outside the top five, but a big upset here would give them a much-needed boost.
The Week 12 Storylines to Watch
Bass Division: Three Eyed Moose vs. Gutter Dusters could be the matchup of the night. Mama's also has a chance to protect its position at the top.
Mid Division: Golden Nugget vs. Pinnin' is a major battle near the top, while Fish Bowl and Turn & Burn are fighting for valuable ground.
Treble Division: Doc's vs. WAP is a direct playoff-position battle. Da Strike and Brazilian Beaver Brigade also have plenty on the line.
The undefeated watch: Hungry Like the Wolf is 10–0. Can they keep the perfect season alive?
The pressure is on: Kobra Ky, NBO, and Swayze's are all fighting for position in the Bass Division, while the Treble Division has a crowded group around the playoff cutoff.
One thing is certain: Week 12 is going to matter. There are no easy points at this stage of the season, and with the playoff picture tightening up, every game could make a difference. Good luck to everybody — let's see who steps up when it matters!
